Jessica McNamee Joins Channing & Rachel McAdams in ‘The Vow’

THR is reporting that Australian actress Jessica McNamee will join Channing Tatum, Rachel McAdams, and Scott Speedman in their new film ‘The Vow‘. Jessica (who looks like Rachel’s brown-haired doppelganger in my opinion) is set to play McAdams’ estranged younger sister in the romantic drama.

The film is based on a true story about a young woman (played by Rachel) who loses all recent memory in a car accident and struggles to rebuild her identity and remember her husband (played by Chan). Speedman will potentially play McAdams’ former fiance, with whom she begins to rekindle a romance in her amnesiac state.

‘The Vow‘ is the real-life story of Arizona couple Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, which is chronicled in a book called ‘The Vow: The Kim and Krickitt Carpenter Story’ and dates from 1993, two months after their marriage, when their car was hit from behind by a truck.

Here’s a description of the book that the film is based on…

“Life as Kim and Krickitt Carpenter knew it was shattered beyond recognition on November 24, 1993, two months after their marriage, when their Ford Escort was hit from behind by a fast-moving truck. A massive head injury left Krickitt in a coma for weeks. When she finally emerged from the coma, she recognized her parents and everyone else — but she didn’t know Kim. She had no idea who he was. The ‘Krickitt’ Kim had married essentially died in the accident. The Vow is the true tale of the reconstruction of two lives and a marriage after an event so shattering that most others would have parted ways long ago. Though it was not easy, and it tested every fiber of who they were, Kim and Krickitt fell in love all over again.”

Screen Gems Studios (a Sony-based shingle) will co-finance with Spyglass Entertainment and will also distribute the Michael Sucsy-directed film. Spyglass’ Roger Birnbaum, Gary Barber, and Jonathan Glickman are producing ‘The Vow,’ and Sucsy, who directed HBO’s award-winning film ‘Grey Gardens’, is rewriting the script.

The production started filming in Toronto, Ontario in Canada on August 30th, so it’ll be a while before we get to see ‘The Vow‘ on the big screen.
